We’re delighted to welcome Ta Byrne to The Box Gallery family. Ta is a Thai artist, whose oil paintings have exploded onto the international art scene.
Ta’s humble upbringing in Thailand meant that creating art for a living was beyond her wildest dreams; instead she was educated until the age of twelve, before going on to work in rice fields and then in a sweat factory in Bangkok. At fourteen she had moved on to driving a pick-up truck, and by 22, Ta was continuing to show her true tenacity and ambition by starting her own business selling trucks.
It was purely chance, that showing her partner a cartoon sketch of him in 2012, sparked the beginning of her incredible journey into the art world, and in her own words “changed her life forever’.
With her partner’s support, Ta began to spend her evenings drawing and painting with oils and watercolours, developing her innate artistic skills. A trained artist and businessman spotted her ‘raw talent’, encouraged her to exhibit and sell her work - which she did, firstly to tourists, and then online.
Ta abstracts the human figures in her paintings by distorting them, and sometimes giving them a surrealist edge. Today, these colourful and eye-catching paintings have brought her critical acclaim, and have made her one of the top-selling artists online. In January 2018, ArtFinder tipped her as one to watch and invest in. She then received a call from Singulart in Paris inviting her to join their platform. Her paintings now feature in private collections across over 66 countries, ranging from Australia to Spain, and from Hong Kong to Malibu Beach.
